Grasses generally release pollen from late spring until early summer. In the South, the
season begins as early as March and continues through October. In the North, the grass
pollen season begins in May and ends in August.
Although more than 1,200 species of grasses are native to North America, only a few
are known to cause allergic reactions. These include timothy grass, Kentucky bluegrass,
Johnson grass, Bermuda grass, orchard grass and sweet vernal grass.
